The Peoples Church was incorporated May 7th, 1947, with Pastor Perry F. Rockwood as the founding pastor. Because the church had its initial beginning as an organized group of believers even prior to its incorporation in 1947 due to the Missionary outreach began in the McClure’s Mission, the church has always counted it a blessing to have an active Missionary program, with annual Missions Conferences to keep us appraised of the work that these servants of God are accomplishing around the globe.
The Peoples Church joined the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada, October 11th, 1962.
There have been many men serve as pastors at The Peoples Church since Pastor Rockwood began the work. To date, there have been 12 Pastors at our Church. The present Senior Pastor, Ken Fillmore, grew up in this congregation. He graduated from NBBI and pastored in NB, PEI and Ontario before coming home to The Peoples Church. He and his wife, Donna and their 3 children have blessed our congregation with their love for people and sincere desire to reach others for the Lord. Our Youth Pastor, Bruce Steeves, (also a graduate of NBBI) his wife Amanda and their 2 boys, came to us following a 5 year ministry at Rothesay Baptist Church in NB. Pastor Bruce and Amanda have shown great leadership ability as they plan events, teach and develop both the Youth and Children’s Ministries here at The Peoples Church.
Throughout the 60+ years, we have seen many changes at The Peoples Church. Building and location changes, congregation changes, changes in the Pastoral and Administrative staff, changes in the programs and outreaches, change in the music and presentations, but one thing remains constant, our desire, as Pastor Rockwood put it, “to continue, with the Lord’s help, to preach the truth of God’s Word and the message of His salvation without favor.”
